The Mission of the Oregon SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) Alliance is to promote safety and health management and cooperation among companies and government for the betterment of all Oregon workers.
The health and safety of all Oregonians is of vital importance to the Oregon SHARP Alliance.
The Oregon SHARP Alliance invites you to participate in Suicide Prevention in Construction, a difficult yet extremely important training.
Training will be conducted by QPR Institute | Practical and Proven Suicide Prevention Training QPR Institute and Construction Suicide Prevention Partnership – suicide-stops-here.org This Training will be held 9/14/2023 from 10:00am - 12:00 at: The Knife River Training Center, 35973 Kennel Rd SE, Albany, OR 97322 QPR is an evidence-based suicide prevention curriculum that teaches community members to: -Recognize someone at risk -Ask a person about thoughts of suicide -Support a person in seeking help -Offer hope Please RSVP to join us for this critical and informative session for suicide prevention in the construction industry. RSVP for the SHARP General training September 14 is below. 2023 has been an outstanding year for the SHARP Alliance. Beginning with the Oregon Governor's Occupational Safety & Health Conference in March where we added a new look with an upgraded booth that drew a lot of attention and very positive response (picture on right below). Several groups joined the Alliance during the conference as Alliance members worked to update a consolidated list of members by region. The Region X VPPPA Northwest Safety and Health Summit in Kennewick Washington (May 2023) was also attended by the SHARP Alliance with Dale Combs and Mark Hurliman representing the Alliance.
The Blue Mountain Conference kicked off June 5th with a half day presentation by SHARP companies titled "Building a Sustainable Safety Culture" and, for the first time, four additional workshops were added including Safety & Health Topics in Spanish. Joe Esty was the keynote speaker on June 6th delivering an outstanding message on Active Safety to the 279 attendees. The SHARP Alliance recognized Craig Hamelund from OSHA as the 2021/2022 Blue Star Award winner and Dave Windsor of Cardinel IG in Hood River as the 2023 Blue Star Award winner. The Blue Star Award is given to recognize outstanding leadership and contribution to the safety and health of Oregon workers. The SHARP Alliance will be represented at the following conferences through 2023: Central Oregon Safety & Health Conference: Bend, September 25-26 Southern Oregon Safety & Health Conference: Ashland, October 17-19 Western Pulp, Paper & Forest Products Safety & Health Conference: Portland, November 27-30 Check the calendar for more details on all conferences, regional and SHARP Alliance activities. Membership
Full membership is open to those companies who have received SHARP or VPP recognition from Oregon OSHA.
Associate membership is open to all others. |
FlagsThe Oregon SHARP Alliance has been authorized by the Oregon OSHA VPP/SHARP Program Manager to purchase replacement SHARP Graduate and VPP Star flags in bulk, in order to help SHARP and VPP sites replace their flags at a lower cost.
